Part of my mission in writing this blog, along with reaching out to others who’ve been abused, is to discover more about who I am. So much of what I thought I knew about myself, and about the world around me, changed when I became a victim of abuse. God’s abounding grace has carried me through some of the darkest moments of my life. Today, I live deeply appreciative of the gifts I’ve been given in my husband, children and career. Yet, before those pieces of my life fell into place, a huge part of my life fell apart. Now that the dust has settled, it’s time to take a stand. Enough of my life has been consumed by the effects of abuse and now, as promised in His Word, “The Lord says, ‘I will give you back what you lost…'” (Joel 2:25) It’s time to fight the battle; to re-claim the joy. Time to cling to His grace in the dark and find my way into the light.
